I was just downloading the photos off the camera and found this one. I’ve decided to make it the background on my computer. Dinefwr Park is a really beautiful place to visit any time of year. We’ve been several times and each time we’ve said it w=ould be nice to see the blue bells in flower. This year we made it and I think probably went when they looked their best.

This is a great place for a walk on the huge expanse of flat sand. It would have been nice to stay longer but time was getting on and it was getting dark.

It is a time when I get extremely tired as the days draw in and the temperature drops. I get less enthusiastic about everything and it all seems too much trouble. During this time I do get the odd day that I am full of it, when the sun is shining and the air is fresh and clear. These are the days I look forward to its just a shame there aren’t more of them.

This was what greeted me most mornings on my way to work during September. The problem is that it is now dark and damp and my camera has been in its bag for far too long.

We had a good day in Gloucester. The sunshine was good and the kids enjoyed photographing some rather obscure things (pigeons and feet mainly). The Antiques Centre were not keen on the children entertaining themselves taking obscure photos in the units, so they ended up looking with their fingers instead! We found a very helpful chap in the London Camera Exchange who offered a good deal for part exchange, we’ll be back when we’ve saved up some more. As for the bureau, we’ve come away a little disappointed. We’ve spent the morning ringing round to find Antique Centres else where. I’ve been greeted with ansa phones (rightly so on a bank holiday) or antiques well and truely out of our price range. The quest for a ‘reused’ piece of furniture has headed us in the direction of Haynes, the scrap yard/DIY store in Challow: an aladdins cave – what will we find?

So we’re off to Gloucester to the Antique Centre on the docks today. Picnic planned and the camera fully charged: it has been decided that to entertain the girls they’re going to go photo walking round the stalls to find interesting frames. You never know they might end up contributing to the flicker account! We have a hole and a blank wall, as you know with the TV gone. I’d like to fill it with the Beatrix Potter characters. So we’re aptly going to Gloucester on the hunt for a bureau to go in the lounge. It seemed the most sensible option to buy second hand (or antique) but I doubt we’ll be able to afford anything too grand. Buying something that’s made of wood and someone else has enjoyed before us is somewhat more romantic than putting together a processed flatpack (the equivalent to a chicken nugget versus a organic freerange hen!) I do hope my first posting on a blog is successful, if I’m not careful I’ll end up spending too much time on this, and too little making the breakfast.
