Cycling continued…

The cycling has taken a bit of a lull these past couple of weeks as work has picked up a bit and a busy family life hasn’t given me the time. Since I last posted I had managed to get to 10 miles in the 30 minuets I had set aside which was hard work trying to not push the heart rate up too high. My next task is to find a safe way to transport a laptop on my bike and start commuting again. Until then I shall get back on the trainer to keep the fitness level so I won’t feel too bad when I finally start.

Cycling!

This last week I decided that I needed a change from the norm. So instead of doing the last hour of work I have gone home and cycled on my cycle trainer. This has defiantly started to help, going home in the light and getting some exercise. At times the cycling has been hard especially on Tuesday getting my legs to turn was quite an effort but I am pleased I persisted. Next week I’ll see if I can get a bit further than the 9.5 mile average in the 30 minutes this I doubt but we will see!

A New Year!

Its a new year and so far its been quite a slow start we are still in that holiday mode. This is not helped by the weather and getting up when it is still dark outside I find difficult. Inspiration is hard to come by when during the week the only time I get out side its dark and the weekends are wet. This week I tried cycling again, got soaked both ways on Monday and that put me off for the rest of the week. I don’t like cycling through deep puddles/ flooded roads in the dark not being sure where the side of the road is or where the pot holes are. My fitness has gone through the floor over the last six months so I really need some descent weather so I can drag myself back ready for a year of getting things done maybe!!

Cycling display in Oxford

Martyn Ashton

Today we went to see the Animal Braun cruZer Bike Tour 2007 when they visited Oxford to do their display outside the new Animal store on Gloucester Green. I dragged the family down there so I could try and take some action shots with my new camera. I was quite surprised that there wasn’t more people around but we were at the first display of the day. We were all impressed with the acrobatics that were effortlessly done by the two riders Martyn Ashton and Grant Fielder. I was also very pleased with the photos I was able to get, realising that I still have things to learn like time to may be watch the display twice giving me time to review my pictures in between as I had some focusing problems and could have done a bit more experimenting. Anyway at least I was there and its all experience.

Commuting..under my own power again!!

Back on the bike again this week after a break of far too long I’ll be using it every day. Thought I’d lost all of my fitness but it wasn’t too bad. Its was very refreshing this morning, listening to the birds, large lung fulls of fresh air ready for the day ahead.

My legs were ok as well which was supprising as I had dusted off the running machine after four months of no use my body didn’t know what had hit it but at the end of a half an hour run I had a great tingling feeling that I’ve missed since christmas.

All of this is in the vain attempt to not get fat and if I can loose the extra pounds that would be great.
